For a lot of PoC, patriotism has been used as a weapon to discriminate and harass us. To reclaim it means facing our oppressors head on and reclaiming what has become a huge dog whistle aimed at our communities. There needs to be a huge societal shift before we even consider it.

FWIW British patriotism has been hugely hijacked by the right and Labour attempting to reclaim it while being poor on issues impacting PoC in particular within the Party will mean more minorities in the Party get thrown under the bus.

adding left wing characteristics to a concept without addressing its existing connotations isn’t going to fix anything, it’ll just perpetuate the existing meaning (even if it’s subtly)
