Idk I think it's fair for nonacademics to think "erotic" means sex. Like people aren't dumb just because they're not thinking about the ~lesser known~ usages of "erotic", they just don't know and it's OK. Also who cares omg. I found that thread dense af.
Reason like a million why I should probably leave academia and why I don't really get a lot of queer theory, possibly.
Like sorry I'm sure the academic who wrote it is brilliant but I just wasn't inspired by it or found it interesting at all.
But honestly it's kinda remarkable seeing people react to others assuming sex is involved. Like why did you think anybody on twitter dot com would be able to discern erotic from erotic??? 
It's actually kind of funny to watch lol
