Thread:

It's strange how some people opposing the council's #StreetspaceLDN schemes see #DulwichSquare as something which 'divides the community'. @helenhayes_ @CatherineRose6 @margynewens @RM_Leeming
Remember how it was before?
Those opposing #DulwichSquare want the traffic back. But with the addition of a 'mini-roundabout' for anyone who drives in by mistake at peak hours (see their pic below). They have failed to explain how this makes it safer for people walking and cycling.
They want Calton Ave & Court Lane to be closed to vehicles during undefined peak hours only, Mon-Fri. This ignores that traffic volumes are too high off-peak to deliver safe, comfortable cycling for all and #dulwichmodalshift. Video - Sat 20th Jun 3.30pm.

It seems unimaginable now, but pedestrians used to have to wait 3 minutes to cross this junction before. Confined to the small central island in the middle, with children at exhaust height.
Surely there are more, and better ways of uniting a community than by car?
