♥ cooking / baking thread ♥

just a place where i can put my recipes :P
♥ sweet and sour tofu!

180 cal per serving; 4 servings total

pretty good! on the higher cal side bc of the cornstarch, but if you don't want the tofu as crispy you can omit it and it'll be around 110 per serving.
♥ ingredients:

tofu:
1 pkg firm tofu (325cal @ 395g)
1 tbsp liquid aminos (0cal); low sodium soy sauce can be a substitute
1/2 tsp garlic powder (5cal)
1/4 tsp salt (0cal)
1/4 tsp pepper (0cal)
1/3 cup cornstarch (280cal)
sweet and sour sauce:
1/2 cup 0cal sugar; i used lakanto
1/4 cup ketchup (58cal)
1/4 cup white vinegar (or rice vinegar) (0cal)
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp liquid aminos (0cal)
1 tsp garlic powder (9cal)
1/2 cup chopped/cubed pineapple (41cal)
♥ you can add red onion or bell pepper to the sauce as well, i didn't have these ingredients so i decided to omit them!

♥ you can reduce this recipe by 70cal/serving by taking out the cornstarch, but the tofu won't be as crispy. i'd recommend extra thick tofu to makeup for it
♥ directions:

tofu prep!

1. press your tofu for about 30 minutes to get any excess water out

2. cut or tear tofu into bite-sized bits and put in a medium sized bowl; add liquid aminos and toss to coat

3. add garlic pwdr, salt, pepper, and cornstarch and toss to coat
4. heat a large pan or wok over medium heat; nonstick pans are highly recommended

5. dry fry tofu until all sides of the cubes are crisp (about 7 minutes); remove tofu pieces from the pan
sauce!

6. lower heat to medium-low and add pineapples (+ onions and bell peppers/other veggies if you added more) with 1 tbsp of water to prevent sticking; dry fry until pineapples are brown (around 5-6 minutes)
7. whisk 0cal sweetener, ketchup, vinegar, water, liquid aminos, and garlic pwdr together in a separate bowl until combined

8. pour that shit over ur veggies! add in the tofu and stir to combine
9. bring to a slight boil then reduce to a simmer until the sauce has thickened. add 0cal sweetener or liquid aminos until it is sweet enough or savory enough to your liking!

10. enjoy!! i usually divide it into four equal portions and store the rest in the fridge
i might add onto this or clean this thread up later thank u for reading tho!!! ive never rly made a thread like this before so lmk if u guys want more recipes whenever i post what i make!!!!! <33333
