1/So hard truths time for me. As I'm inching towards 45k followers I notice (ESPECIALLY on political matters of basic human rights.) that there is always an argumentative person engaging in bad faith in a way that is not meant to open the conversation, but rather to gain access https://twitter.com/FavoriteMewArt/status/1307695891734691841
2/ To my followers and my platform. Utilizing the many eyes that come here, in order to spread all kinds of horrors (racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, even advocating for murder...seen it all).

I usually engage with them, even felt proud of my long responses...but no-
3/ matter what I said, reason, facts, information, they would always switch the conversation, and always be on the offensive. This then becomes less of a conversation and more of a performance.

So from now on, I'm going to curate my feeds more responsibly. In the same way that-
4/ I would never allow someone to be cruel and toxic in real life, on stage, while I demo, I won't allow that in this space (my TL) either. This is genuinely a huge shift for me
but this EXCELLENT video really opened my eyes here, highly recommend it!
5/ And will that keep you or me in a bubble? Fuck no. Just follow the news and check literally anywhere else on the internet for different perspectives. I'll still be engaging elsewhere too. And btw I'm all for different views! But I have non-negotiables as I've mentioned-
6/ So if anyone comes in hot with bad faith takes in order to promote racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, anti-COVID, alt-right/nazi/fascist views, I'm gonna block. Then explain to my audience why it's messed up, without your input. No access to my followers.
7/ Anyway
TL;DR:

Got a bigger audience here=more responsibilities.

Will need to start blocking folks who disagree with *basic* human rights, or are anti-COVID who engage with me on my TL.

and plz do see the full video, but here's the gist of it: https://twitter.com/aidan_rolf/status/1308071228469473280?s=20
p.s. I'm bound to mess this up, I'm sure. But for the most part, I want to try this new way forward. Trying to do my part. Little by little. Let's see how it goes.
