Ok, a while ago I promised to donate part of my #Robodebt refund to @AusUnemployment and part to @AntiPovertyN_SA. My refund was $1,237.01. That is to say, the government unlawfully took $1,237 out of my tax return.
Here's a screenshot of my $500 donation to @AusUnemployment.
And I transferred $500 to the @AntiPovertyN_SA.
I'm keeping the rest.
Why am I donating and why am I sharing this? Well, to start, in the past I have been unemployed and I was treated like shit by the government and by my job service agency. Unemployed people deserve support and dignity and these organisations fight for them.
Community organisations like these (in my view) are the reason I got my money back in the first place. They deserve a cut, and at the moment, I can afford to support them. I hope that the next time I'm unemployed, they will be able to support me.
Just a note, although I'm glad these organisations exist. They shouldn't have to. In a rich country like Australia, we should be treating everyone with dignity and respect.
We need a government-backed Jobs and Income Guarantee to help create hundreds of thousands of jobs and ensure everyone has an income they can live on. No one left behind.
On September 28 the Government will plunge millions of people into poverty when they cut the rate of JobKeeper.

Low income workers should not be punished during a pandemic. All while the government introduces tax cuts for the super wealthy.
