Body positivity isn't just about size and weight. It can be about color, piercings, tattoos... and as recently brought up to me: SCARRING.
As someone who will permanently be affected by this last one, I Have worked hard for the last 5+ years to accept myself and my body, and the scars that lace it
As someone who has had to face myself in front of my parents and my family; in front of others that are EMBARRASSED by my arms, and wanted a way to heal them
I am hear for every, any, and ALL who experience similar. And I am here on this journey with you. Every day is another struggle, and its never something that can be perfected.
But it is something that can slowly be accepted, graced as a part of your journey, YOUR STORY. My scars define me, and only tell the tale of what I have withstood. What I have managed to overcome.
Like I said, each day is different. Somedays it is embarrassment or shame. Other days it is strength or being proud. Its something you must power through. And do for yourself. Not for the others that tell you how you should or shouldn't feel.
There is nothing I can do about my scars. My mom tried to find 'scar healing' methods when they were still new. But that's just not the way my body heals, and nothing worked.
But I never went along with those things for me. It was always for her and my dad. To somehow make up for the shame that I had brought upon them.
Don't do it for them. Do it for you. If healing, surgery, cover up is something YOU want for YOU, then do it.

But if bearing your history as a phsyical reminder is what you need to carry on with strength and perseverance, then don't change because someone says you have to.
And if you need someone to talk to, I am ere.

I am not a professional. I am not perfect. I am not fully healed. But I am someone with my own experiences and journey, and can help shed some light, or even just offer support, as we carry on through each harrowed day đŸ€
