After spending 4 years on #TATMRParody and fully understanding why Britt Allcroft's complete incompetence during the late 90s left the franchise in state vulnerable enough to be absorbed and dismantled by HiT, I feel like it'd be hypocritical to support her ego-stroking Blu-Ray.
I am fully aware that my opinion will be unpopular and by no means am I saying that YOU shouldn't go out and support it if you want to, because on paper this shit is really cool and we should absolutely be grateful for any acknowledgement of classic TTTE by the current regime.
But there’s been a voice in the back of my head throughout this 20th anniversary Blu-Ray fiasco that’s stopping me from fully appreciating it. Allcroft's attempts at revising the narrative away from her constant mistakes and instead to her "misunderstood cult-classic" seems wrong
The theatrical rerelease of TATMR is cool, but if Sharon Miller held a red carpet premiere for the 10 year anniversary of Misty Island Rescue where she had a Q&A panel and spent 15 mins discussing her genius writing process, I’d be embarrassed to pay money for that.
I just made a 3 hr movie breaking down why this lady shouldn’t be respected for her filmmaking abilities and then the stance this rerelease takes is “Wow, wasn’t Britt a great filmmaker? She sure made an underrated movie, huh? Let's all celebrate this accomplishment!”
To reiterate - I do not look down at anyone for purchasing the Blu-Ray. I totally respect it and I honestly wish I could see this through your eyes. #TATMRParody just ruined TATMR for me, and I have no interest in financially supporting the rerelease myself. Feel free to disagree
