Idk who needs to hear this but we talk about sound/sonic experience being erotic *all the time*. And not just within the ivory tower! It doesn't mean the same thing as intercourse!

Also, the genre currently known as queer theory has a lonnnng history of talking about erotics beyond normative sex: the dismissal of @reproutopia as exhibiting some bad current trends of queer thought are revealing.

I was gonna keep my mouth shut about this latest twitter discourse but this is someone I care about. By all means critique but describing them/their thinking as the end of civilization or w/e is not really ok or proportionate?

I also know this is a proxy war but for those whining about using academic language: this wasn't a piece in a mainstream media site or yr favourite crank-left publication: it was a self-published patreon piece, which tend to be for people already invested in the author's work!

We can't all be a member of the commentariat, and it is telling that it is them who have led some of this pile on.

Fao the commentariat: while it certainly doesn't help, 'the platform' doesn't make you a reactionary.

Ok I am actually nearly done here (turns out I woke up angry!) but if you're saying - *in this current social climate - something like 'this bad queer writer ruined this *pure* and *good* documentary by talking about erotics' then, idk, maybe think about that?
