If you think Sen. Romney is gonna defect, I’m sorry, but you don’t understand Romney https://twitter.com/politico/status/1308224534970077186
I say this with great respect for the man, but there’s no way he’s gonna do what’s gonna be “right”. Because Romneyworld isn’t oriented around that.
Romney doesn’t believe in the “rightness” of results. He isn’t willing to play a tit-for-tat game against Sen. McConnell. Sure he was responsible for Merrick Garland’s nomination failing, but that’s not Romney’s burden.
Romney will vote as he wants things to be- and that means the president fulfilling his duty to nominate and the Senate fulfilling its duty to confirm. The converse of this is, that in a Biden lame duck year, Romney would do the same.
Romney will probably vote for all of Biden’s cabinet appointees next year, unless there’s some egregious fault in one. Because that’s how it’s supposed to be in Romneyworld
As I said earlier, this is how it’s supposed to be in Romneyworld. It’s bound by a strict compass of “duty“-not “morality” or “fairness” https://mobile.twitter.com/SenatorRomney/status/1308403638897958914
If you ask me, there’s an egregious fault in this compass: it refuses to assert that there might be a good side and a bad side. Instead everything is bound in the drapings of “law” and “duty”
