So, have been hearing some good things.

1) DFO was ordered to return all of the traps that were illegally taken by non-Native fishermen

2) the Navy showed up and ordered the commercial vessels to leave Mi'gmaw traps alone. All 34 boats disbursed.
3) RCMP have announced they're opening an investigation into the harassment of Mi'gmaw fishermen and illegal tampering with Mi'gmaw traps

4) a non-Native fisherman came forward and apologized for his involvement in stealing traps and offered to return them
5) Four Mi'gmaw fishermen were able to successfully fish for lobster today without any major problems
Obviously, this is still an evolving situation, and, as I stated in my previous "hopeful" thread the other day, I remain skeptical about whether these developments are indicative of new trends that break from well-worn historical trajectories. But... I mean, I'll take it for now.
