Err, the @bcndp just put out a list of all the candidates that have been officially nominated in the ridings, and surprise surprise there is Nathan Cullen as the official and victorious candidate for Stikine.
In a statement from party HQ, president Craig Keating said Annita McPhee’s application was ineligible because it “contained signatures that were not valid.” The party “attempted to work with her to address the issue,” it says. But “there was simply not enough time."
And so, through the use of HQ interference, technicalities, a rushed timeline, and various other methods of putting a finger on the electoral scale - McPhee is out and Cullen is in.
To backstop HQ’s meddling, the NDP has also put out a statement from the NDP Stikine riding association president claiming McPhee tried to get the federal NDP nomination in 2019 and failed and “made it clear to many members that she never again wanted to be associated w/ the NDP"
This denunciation of the federal NDP appears to have carried with it, in the mind of the provincial party, enough force that she was not approached for this election.
here’s the statement
