first and foremost i do not care that op is bi. not only is what they are saying misinformation, it’s harmful to and dismissive of other bisexuals who have experienced biphobia for years upon coming out.

biphobia is defined as aversion toward bisexuality and bisexual ppl as a social group and as individuals. there are many ways to be biphobic. you can be biphobic without flat out saying “i hate bisexual people.” literally anyone can be biphobic.
“biphobia is just misdirected homophobia.” no, it is NOT. bisexual ppl experience both homophobia and biphobia actually, so to say that the oppression bisexuals experience is merely misdirected homophobia is not only stupid but it is FALSE.
what i mean by saying bisexuals experience both homophobia & biphobia is that, bi ppl are discriminated against for being attracted to same gender/similar genders (homophobia) as well as they are for being attracted to all genders. (biphobia)
in some cases, bisexual sapphics can experience misdirected lesbophobia. for example, the d slur is used to discriminate against lesbians for our lack of attraction to men. this can be used against them under the presumption that they are lesbians.
bisexual sapphics can also experience misogyny as well. for example, a bisexual sapphic dating a woman might be harassed for not having a “strong man to depend on.”
that being said, biphobia is different from both of those things and takes on many different forms. bisexuals experience biphobia from cishet ppl as well as they experience it within the lgbt community. i’ll give you examples and explain how they are different from what is above.
“bisexuals are greedy for being attracted to all genders” this is an example of direct biphobia. not homophobia or misogyny. assuming that bisexuals are “hoarding” bc of the fact that they are attracted to all genders is BIPHOBIA.
“you’re just confused and you’ll pick a side eventually” once again, this type of discrimination is experienced ONLY by bisexuals. ppl assume that bisexuality is some make believe identity that a confused gay person or wannabe-oppressed straight person identify as for fun.
“bisexuals are more likely to cheat.” once again, this is something that is ONLY experienced by bisexual ppl, under the assumption that bc they are attracted to all genders it must mean they statistically have a higher chance of cheating (completely untrue btw.)

“i don’t date bi women bc i don’t want to be left for a man” - sincerely, biphobic lesbians. this is kinda self explanatory and similar to the one above, refusing to date someone for the sole fact that they are bisexual.
these were just a FEW of the examples of direct oppression that bisexuals face. moving onto bi erasure and the habitual silencing of bi voices in the lgbt community !!
bi ppl have historically suffered the erasure of their own culture and experiences with discrimination. for a very long time, bi women were grouped w lesbians and bi men w gay men. though bi ppl have had their own unique experiences and faced a different type of oppression, +
their voices were silenced by both their oppressors (cishets) and their own community. and to date, ppl CONTINUE to speak over bisexuals when it comes to their own sexuality and experiences.
bisexuals have repeatedly stated that bisexuality has ALWAYS meant attraction to all genders, and yet non bisexual ppl somehow always disregard this and define bisexuality as “attraction to two or more genders.”
and bisexual ppl experience many microaggresions, too. when bi ppl make harmless tweets abt something like cuffed jeans being bi culture after repeatedly having their own culture erased, y’all call them annoying and ridiculous.
y’all say shit like “bisexuals are the white ppl of the lgbt community” and group them in with their oppressors, yet again contributing to bi erasure and BIPHOBIA.
so YES, biphobia DOES in fact exist, and if you think otherwise you are dense and biphobic so pick a struggle.
