I think it’s because elites on both sides deeply hold these views, it’s not just fodder for the base

I think your frame of reference is probably determinative here, at least in part

I wasn’t following SCOTUS noms as a reporter until Garland, so that has obviously influenced my view of who is doing the escalating

I would actually like to know who is “right” but I don’t trust anybody with the answer haha

I’m sure it boils down, as most things do, to “a little bit of both”
