R*wling/Le Guin thread has been muted due to weird virality.

As ever, housekeeping notes.

I never said that nobody made a critique of R*wling before, obviously many people did, I did on LJ back in the days of yore. HOWEVER, Le Guin seems to have *legitimizing power* /1
...and some people seem to have wanted to use this legitimizing power to say, look even the late, great Le Guin criticized JKR. And sure she said something, but the legitimizing power of Le Guin should not be necessary here, it's enough that JKR is literally a TERF. /2
Now, I am of an opinion, having read through a lot of Le Guin's work and written a fair amount about her, that Le Guin would not want to be viewed as a legitimizing authority on anything of the sort, nor was she without flaw, and she engaged in self-reflection incessantly - /3
- which is something important we might learn from Le Guin, and which imho is so much more important than any of her minor criticisms of Rowling.

Back in 2004, JKR's TERFiness was definitely not known, so Le Guin could hardly criticize her on that, back then. But we can. /4
The days when I wanted to argue about her craft and the ways she could improve it, again, FOR ME, were all before she came out as a flaming TERF, with opinions and works that do real harm firstly to trans women and transfeminine people, and secondly, to all trans people. /5
The discussion of the quality of JKR's craft, and what various other famous and less famous people said about it over the years, is much less important now, again, to ME, because the main issue is that she is harming trans people. /6
ok, I think I am going to stop here. Thanks.
