Ok, so many of us accept that the data being used to convince us to go back into some kind of lockdown is dodgy as hell... But WHY, when the data doesn't predict a deadly second wave, would the Government want to pretend that it does? This is the bit I can't work out. 1/
I'm not a conspiracy theorist and, no, coronavirus isn't a hoax so this isn't a bid by shadowy billionaires to control us.

And it's not in the interest of the Tories to collapse the economy when they're the ones in Govt (it's more in Labour's interests actually) 2/
So do the Govt want to pretend that we are facing a much worse pandemic than we are so they can claim victory in a few months when, lo and behold, it's not as awful as we were told it would be? Or do they genuinely believe their highly questionable claims on numbers? 3/
Are they just trying to justify basing their Covid strategy on the horribly wrong Ferguson/Imperial modelling by doubling down once again to save face? 4/
Wouldn't most of us (me included) be forgiving of a Govt which said, with hindsight, the lockdown was the wrong strategy but we did what we did at the time in good faith given the little we knew about the virus and the threat it posed? Why double down? 5/
