Is anybody signing up for Civvl just to get addresses for where to direct actions to or
Wow this is really awful huh. I especially wonder about the "work on your own schedule"

like, wake up at 2 in the afternoon, have a nice breakfast, and then head out to evict someone by 9pm?
Looks like @CashApp is working with them to get their "gig workers" paid. Wonder how they feel about their service being used to pay people to force others into houselessness during a pandemic.
Their terms and conditions are *really* hard to read. Almost like they're trying to hide something hmmm?
Okay so let's dig into these terms a little. Disclaimer, I am not a lawyer so this is just gonna be my take.

Firstly, they refer to their app as "Civvl Services" which is janky.

They also state clearly this is NOT a Process Serving Service, it's a technological service.
It starts with a bunch of terms definitions and disclaimers. I won't get into those much but it does look like they will give a person a phone if they don't have one, for the purpose of doing work for them. Super curious how that works.
Then they go into how they'll shut your account down if you don't "accept an assignment for Process Serving Services using the Civvl App at least once a month."
Oh fun /s

They'll give their process servers people's contact info...

"the Civvl Services will provide you with certain User Information via the Civvl App, including the User’s contact information and information related to the individual or entity to be served."
this won't lead to harassment at all /s

"it is recommended that you communicate regularly with the User to increase the likelihood that service of process will be completed successfully."
I gotta wonder how they plan to enforce this though...

"You shall not contact any Users or use any User’s personal data for any reason other than for the purposes of fulfilling Process Serving Services"

They also give your contact info to the people being evicted too...
Then of course they go on to basically say they're not liable if the person you're trying to serve an eviction notice to hurts you or doxxes you or anything. Of course.
LOL you get ratings

"You acknowledge and agree that: (a) after receiving Process Serving Services, a User will be prompted by Civvl’s mobile application to provide a rating of you and such Process Serving Services and, optionally, to provide comments or feedback about you"
and of course, if your rating drops too low, they reserve the right to fire you. obviously.

It does seem the "User" is the landlords though, not the people being evicted. Landlords will rate you...
Next they detail the use of Company Devices. Basically they require a cash deposit, and then you have to pay them for the data plan for the device they provide you with. :/
Blah blah blah a bunch of stuff about how you have to have a drivers license and are responsible for your own maintenance and gas and such.

These terms are long, I'm not even half way through yet.
Yeesh the wording on the payment part of the terms sounds super fishy. It sounds like they charge you directly, a fee for each lead, and then the landlord pays you when it's completed. But the company, the landlord, or you, can negotiate your fee, but only to be less. :/ :/ :/
From what I'm seeing, this seems fairly standard for gig economy companies. Only not only will they fuck over the customer and their "employee" but also they're helping to make people houseless. This is evil as hell.
Here it is. They can fire you if they find out you're leaking addresses to try and stop evictions.

"shall not disclose Confidential Information of the other party to any third party, except to its employees, officers, contractors, agents and service providers"
The rest is just boiler plate disclaimers and liability waivers so done with the terms now.
Oh LORD They charge you monthly to WORK FOR THEM

and apparently @PayPal is also fine with allowing a company to use their services to make folks houseless while we're still in the middle of a pandemic. :/
Well that is where this thread must stop. I'm not giving them my credit card info, even in the name of journalism. This is fucked yall.
I can't wait to be getting emails constantly reminding me to finish my onboarding for this shit ass company lol :/
