It’s wild to me that if you say, “I want people to have hope,” you’ll be praised and maybe even called a hero. But if you say, “I want people to have equal rights,” you’ll be told how wrong you are.

While it’s tempting to stay in easier lanes, there’s too much at stake.
What interests me about mental health?

People.

Why do politics matter?

Because caring about people has to include caring about the things that affect people.

If you don’t dig my politics, maybe we can find some common ground in trying to figure out how to care about people.
I’m convinced that caring about people has to include caring about the future of our planet while also addressing our country’s history of systemic racism. This will mean listening to experts and listening to the voices of people whose life experiences are different from mine.
If you’re passionate about abortion, i can totally respect that. i hope we can have a conversation about the factors that relate to abortion, such as healthcare and housing and minimum wage. And what it means to be pro-life once babies are born and as they grow up.
This stuff is really hard. It’s nuanced. It’s connected. i’m simply of the belief that Donald Trump is awful and dangerous, and i hope with everything in me that he will be defeated in November. i don’t think Joe Biden is perfect. i do believe he’s decent and capable of empathy.
