How to Vote in South Carolina: A Thread. Because the Post & Courier’s editorial board can’t seem to publish accurate information about absentee voting and this is an incredibly important election from the top of the ballot to the bottom, I wanted to put ACCURATE info in one place
South Carolina voters can vote ABSENTEE IN PERSON, which means (1) going to their county board of elections or a satellite absentee site during the absentee voting period, (2) requesting a ballot, and (3) casting that ballot, all in the same visit
South Carolina voters can also request that an absentee ballot be mailed to them. This is called ABSENTEE BY MAIL. https://www.scvotes.gov/absentee-voting
If you vote ABSENTEE BY MAIL, this means that the ballot is mailed to you. You can return your ballot (1) in person, (2) by mail, or (3) with the help of someone you authorize to return it for you (this last one requires a special form). In other words, you have options
So make a plan to vote. Know that you have more options than mailing an absentee ballot or voting in person on Election Day. Do what is best for you, just make sure you do it.
