"One last..."

It just might be the most damaging thought we think.
- One last bet.
- One last trip to the casino.
- One last night of drinking.
- One last time binge eating.
We "one last" ourselves into directly into a deep hole filled with depression, anxiety, and regret. We "one last" ourselves so frequently that the most optimistic part of our brain begins to question the validity of the claim.
The way out of this hole won't come from "one last".

It will come from making a change at 3:01 PM in the afternoon, not from waiting until tomorrow. It will come from completely abandoning "one last" and replacing it with a better thought.
So when my next "one last" pops up (and it will), I'll be knocking it out with a "not today".
