My first day at work - a thread
So the day starts off well enough. I have one half of a room to myself and my own desk with an excellent view of Business Bay (yay!)
My senior, a man I will refer to from now on as M, is a very nice man from my native place and we bond quickly over our mother tongue as I milk the connection
We have an office helper and he is already my favourite person there. Not only did he make sure that I had all the necessary stationary and equipment for my first day, the man is an all-rounder and gets a lot things done around the office.
But the main reason I love him already.
The man& #39;s named Bruno, like my future son and most importantly like our Portuguese magnifico @B_Fernandes8

M starts off the day by walking me through a normal days work that he does. By this point I have realised that a lot of what happens is highly technical, and that I& #39;ll probably be spending my first month trying to figure out what the hell is going on, as one often does.
It also does not take long to figure out that literally everything goes through accounts. M is always either picking up or answering calls on his phone. In btw this he juggles his working and training me. You have my respect.
He jokingly tells me that he& #39;s glad I& #39;m there and that he can take a vacation at some point and leave me to handle his calls. Except he wasn& #39;t joking y& #39;all. I could see pity in his eyes. I dread that day when it arrives.
As day goes by, I begin to fear that I& #39;m settling into this job a little too quickly as I find myself overly fascinated by a mundane task like extracting a statement of accounts.
I left the best for last. I find a single trophy on top of a file cabinet in our room. Not much description, apart from the fact that it& #39;s a winner trophy. But the winner in what? Cricket? Football? Tic Tac Toe? Pen fight?
I ponder the answer to that question as the trophy mockingly stares back at me.
I am now on a mission to uncover the truth behind the trophy. One way or another, the facts will be out soon. Watch this space folks.
