He also is threatening to punish local governments if they decide to move money away from police and towards social services. Essentially trying to pre-empt local control on funding issues.

We have a major budget short fall, people are facing eviction and homelessness, and our state leaders are trying to fuel national tensions over police brutality versus talk about the problems right in front of us. So so sad.
Honestly I was hopeful Democrats and Republicans would be pursuing meaningful criminal legal system reform this year but instead under the leadership of our Governor we are 100% heading in the wrong direction. Ignoring the deaths of BIPOC and 100% creating MORE tension w/LEOs.
I want to hear where our local Sheriffs and Chiefs stand on this proposed legislation. I DOUBT every Sheriff agrees that this legislation is even necessary.

Just like the Governor's attacks on immigrants, he constantly demonizes BIPOC to achieve an election agenda. When they can't win on actual issues all they can do is distract and use black/brown people as the enemy.

Note that it will COST more money to incarcerate people. So in the middle of a major budget shortfall, we're going to spend MORE money on punishing and incarcerating people when we should be ending mass incarceration and pursuing peaceful solutions to save lives.

He keeps using bricks as an example. If you throw a brick at a cop that's already a crime and no one should be throwing ANYTHING. We don't need a bill for that.
Wow, I can't believe this is the state of our state. Instead of addressing relief for families, support of small businesses, @GovRonDeSantis goes full on @realDonaldTrump mode and pushes unnecessary legislation to intimidate protesters w/a crowd of LEOS that had no masks. Sad.
