Part 1 of a really long thread: Things Bayern Munich does for their Club Legends

Basti Schweinsteiger played for Bayern Munich since 1992. At the club, he won everything he could have won: Meisterschaft, DFB Cup, Champions League. 2015/16 he decided to try something new and move to Man Utd, followed by a move to Chicago Fire where he ended his career 2019/20.
Still Bayern never forgot about him and especially in the heart of the fans he got a special place. That’s why the club organized a goodbye match for him. One last time in the Allianz with the fans shouting the name of their hero.
Furthermore Rummenigge left all doors open for him a few weeks ago, when he said „Hopefully he can celebrate again with FC Bayern one day.“ A job offer?
Arjen Robben: every Bayern Fan knows this name. He‘s Mr. Wembley, he gifted us our first Triple in 2013. He joined Bayern 2009/10 from Real Madrid. Back then, it was a step back. But Robben never regretted his decision and Bayern became one of the best clubs in the world.
2019/20 he decided to end his career after a tearful goodbye at the club. However he never really left. To stay fit, he was training at the Säbener Straße (Bayerns trainingground) and then announced to make his comeback for the 2020/21 season at his boyhood club in Groningen.
Martin Demichelis was one of our best Center Backs. He joined in 2003/04 from the Argentinian Club RiverPlate and left after playing 174 Bundesliga matches for Malaga in 2010/11. During his stay he won 4 Meisterschaften, 4 DFB-Cups, 4 times the German Ligapokal...
... and 1 time the German Supercup. 207/18 he ended his active player career and came back to Bayern as a youth trainer. Currently he is the head-coach of the U19.
Tom Starke is not a name you would think of right away. He never got past Manuel Neuer, but when he played, he did a solid job. He joined Bayern from Hoffenheim in 2012/13 and also ended his career here in 2018/19.
With the club he won 6 Meisterschaften, 3 DFB-Cups, 3 German Supercups, 1 UEFA Supercup and the FIFA WC. He then proceeded to join the U19 as goalkeeper coach and just recently got promoted to the goalkeeper coach of the whole youth campus.
Miroslav Klose is one of the best strikers, if not the best striker Germany ever had. (I’m not forgetting about Gerd Müller). He joined from Werder Bremen and played for the club from 2007 until 2011. Afterwards he joined Lazio Rom where he then also ended his career 2016.
However he came right back to Bayern. 2018 he took his first coaching steps with the U17 team, where he stayed for 2 years. Hansi Flick wished for him to be his assistant coach. Now the goalgetter works for the first team and mainly is respoibsle for special striker training.
Hansi Flick used to play for Bayern from 1985 until 1990 and wore the legendary number 7 shirt. He took his first coaching steps at Hoffenheim from 2000 until 2005. 2006 he joined the german national team as assistant coach and left after the World Cup triumph 2014.
When everything went downhill with Niko Kovac as coach, Flick took over, even though he just recently joined the club as assistant coach. Many doubted that it would work out, since he barely has experience and that Bayern should look for bigger names, however…
he went ahead and broke records, created a system that fits Bayern perfectly and went on to win the Triple. All the players talk highly about him as well.
Herman Gerland, also called „the Tiger“. I for my part can’t imagine the coaching team without this man. He’s been at Bayern since 2001! Most people on this app probably weren’t even born yet when he joined the club.
Every coach we had, Herman Gerland was his assistant and made sure the „Mia San Mia“ feeling would never disappear. His goal is to bring the best out of those players. Even at their biggest glory, he won’t put down his stopwatch. The hard work never stops for him.
I’m pretty sure that every Bayern Fan adores Jupp Heynckes and keeps him close to their heart. As active player, he played for Gladbach and Hannover 96 as striker and was fairly successful. After his player career, he started with coaching. He had his first stay at the club...
from 1987/88 until 1991/92, followed by clubs like Real Madrid, Benfica, Bilbao, Schalke or Leverkusen. 2008/09 he had a short stay at the club for one season before returning again 2011/12. He left the club 12/13 with the first Triple of the club history and his goodbye...
was filled with tears and emotions. When Bayern had an issue with their trainer and desperately were looking for somebody else, Jupp came back from retirement and lead the boys 2017/18 to another trophy.
Hasan Salihamidžić is the sports director of the club. He used to play for Bayern between 1998 and 2007. 2011/12 he ended his active career at Woflsburg and 2017 joined Bayern Munich, where he is responsible for all the transfers.
While some transfers were better than others, the best coup he landed was Alphonso Davies. The nobody from Canada is now the best left back in the world.
Claudio Pizarro just recently ended his career at Werder Bremen and already is back at Bayern in his new job as club ambassador. His first stay at the club was from 2001/02 until 2007/08 and the second from 2012/13 until 2015/16.
In 327 matches for the club he scored 125 goals and assisted 53. No matter what club you support, you like Pizarro. He’s one of the most sympathetic players the Bundesliga has ever had.
