1. AIDA is a Marketing Funnel

Attention Interest Desire Action

Let’s break it down using an Email as an example

Attention: Subject Line

“I just made $500 in my sleep”

Interest: Build off the Subject line

“I can’t believe I didn’t know about this, it changed my life!”
Desire: Tell a story, make it personal

“I spent months looking for a side hustle like this, I wasted so much time & money, I was ready to give up until..”

Action: In this case, would be a Call To Action at the end of the Email

“Make money in your sleep!”
2. BR - Bounce Rate

A term related to web traffic

It represents the percentage of visitors who end up on your website or page,

And then bounce (leave) without taking a single action, like clicking a link or making a purchase

The lower this number, the better
3. CR - Conversion Rate

The percentage of people who completed a desired action or goal

The amount of people who clicked your link, and ended up making the purchase
4. CMS - Content Management System

A computer software used to manage the creation of digital content

They make it easy to create websites without having to know how to code

A great example of one is @wordpressdotcom
5. CTA - Call To Action

This is when you encourage your reader, subscriber, customer etc

To take action

“RT The Top Tweet”

“Buy Now”

And “Click Here”

Are all examples of a CTA
6. CTR - Click Through Rate

This refers to the percentage of people who actually click a link once they see it

It’s particularly important when it comes to Email Marketing or Facebook Ads
7. PPC - Pay Per Click

This is a model of internet marketing where a person running ads

Pays a specific dollar amount each time someone clicks on one of their ads

Whenever you see an Ad come up in a google search, it is likely the result of someone running a PPC campaign
8. ROAS - Return On Ad Spend

A measurement of how much a business earns for each dollar spent on ads

Let’s say you spend $20 on PPC ads

They generated $100 in sales

Your ROAS be $5

Every dollar spent on ads, generated $5.00 in revenue
9. SEO - Search Engine Optimization

The process of optimizing your content so that is has a better chance of ranking higher on search engines

Getting your store on the 1st page of a google search

Done right, it will increase the quantity and quality of traffic to your website
10. UX - User Experience

The interaction or overall experience a user has with a company’s products and services

This could be for an app, website or other online service

The simplicity of the PayPal app makes for a very good UX

(We still don’t like them though)
This is just the tip of the ice berg when it comes to Marketing Acronyms

I chose these 10 because they are some of the most important and common.
