Again, the Republican Party needs to be *eviscerated* in this election. Any other approach is a non-strategy that has nothing to do with responding to current political realities or the current dynamics of how power is organized in this country. 1/
It’s only those to the left of fascists who engage in either/or debates about what tactics should be used to advance political aims. Where do you ever see the right spend time debating whether they should vote v. having a strategy around the courts v. having armed militias? 2/
Where do you see the right saying that voting is all they have to do or debating whether there’s any value in it at all? You don’t. They have armed militias, strategy to win elections, a media universe where they advance their ideology & a list of ppl they want on the benches. 3/
Meanwhile everyone to the left of them has the most inane debates about which ONE thing we have to do in order to win. At some point we have to pause & do some self-reflecting on how the majority keeps being outmaneuvered by the far right & why. 4/
I’ve never seen the right engage in debates about protest v. civic engagement. I don’t even see them debate the proper way to protest. They are clear on wtf they are fighting for and are committed to using every tool at their disposal in a relentless pursuit toward that end. 5/
In 2016, Trump & Clinton were both the least popular candidates to run for office in history. Many conservatives hated Trump but saw him as a means to get the Supreme Court they wanted. They won. Without major reforms, they now have control of the courts for a generation. 6/
And this is what I mean when I say the opposition understands political strategy better than we do & I wish folks would stay out of their feelings long enough to engage in some self-analysis around why we’re not getting the political outcomes we want. 7/
Whether people believe voting makes no difference at all or they believe voting is the single most powerful thing one can do, both these viewpoints reflect a lack of understanding around how the existing gov’t is structured that then results in poor political strategy. 8/
The current gov’t is not what the far right wants it to be either. The difference is they recognize how to use existing levers of power to push the gov’t toward being the white supremacist theocracy they want it to be & they don’t pass on using any of those levers. 9/
It’s very clear that conservatives took a long look at the entire situation post-civil rights era, understood that civil rights in USA are largely a matter of court rulings & set about a strategy to take over the courts. They’re now in a late phase of a decades-long strategy. 10/
Meanwhile liberals & moderates still focus on debates over procedure like fascists give a damn, leftists are debating what single tactic will overthrow an entire power structure and everyone to the left of fascists is caught reacting to events on a month by month basis. 11/
I’m saying this with love & concern for humanity b/c I care what happens. I’m saying what I keep saying. This will not end in November 2020 or in 2021. Disabuse yourself of that notion if you ever thought that was possible... 12/
...There must be *strategic praxis* for building power that is organized enough to challenge existing power structures AND a 20+ year plan for implementing it because that’s how long it will take.

And this is not directed at ppl already working their butts off doing this 🙏🏾13/13
