Happy 5th anniversary, #Wabbit (later New #LooneyTunes since S02; retroactively renamed under the current title in S01; also known as Bugs! in select territories). It may have been a weirder take (and different, too!), but it was a good show in its own right!
Originally developed for Boomerang (as part of the channel's 2015 relaunch and push towards original programming of its own), the series first premiered on Cartoon Network (as a last-minute decision; maybe to hype it, I guess?); however, CN dropped it in 2016 and returned to...
...Boomerang in 2017, finishing its three-season run in early 2020 in the United States, to make room for #LooneyTunesCartoons. And the fact that it survived for so long is that it was popular in Europe (and in the U.S. it barely got attention).
The people who did see it have mixed opinions in general: while it was nice to see Looney Tunes in TV going back-to-basics, it still wasn't good enough.
The second season is where things really get better for the show (although Daffy and Porky debut in the first season finale): it wasn't just The Bugs Bunny Show (occasionally starring others), it was truly a Looney Tunes show. And they even got back Gabby Goat since he last...
...appeared in the 1930s! Oh, and to be fair, the show heavily leaned towards the earliest Looney Tunes era, and that explains why Porky is fat as a balloon, Daffy is a screwball again, Gabby Goat appearing for the first time in TV and Granny sounding like Bea Bernaderet.
It wasn't weird for me that Wile E. Coyote spoke and was pretty abrasive, but it was certainly interesting (he did speak in a few cartoons prior to this one).
Though the show did later feature other Looney Tunes characters, the show also introduced a cast of its own, like Sir Littlechin, King Thes, Carl the Grim Rabbit, Squeaks and others.
I may not have watched it in entirety (and I'm sorry I didn't), but I posted this thread to honor the show, now that it's five years old now.
Verdict: Though it may need time to get used to, New Looney Tunes is an enjoyable return to the slapstick roots that made Looney Tunes so beloved by everyone.
