That convo about poor girls/women re-using pads showed me just how many women have a lot of work to do in the empathy dept and how privileged/entitled many are.
On top of being poor, in abusive homes, or homeless, a lot of times those same children have to be very careful not to tip educators and school administrators off because they dont want them bringing in CPS
So while we think, “why you dont just ask the teacher or school nurse” they are being very careful not to establish a pattern, because it would send red flags if a student is asking every day for 5-7days, every month for feminine hygiene products
And it’s been established how often the system let down black kids, splitting them up from siblings, placing them in even worse environments to be abused and harmed more/worse.
Not condemning or shading anyone, just want us to open our eyes to what life can/is like outside our privilege
