Leftism in Canada is increasingly characterized by a sort of anarcho-anti-colonial framework which sees Canada's history as repugnant and the state as illegitimate. You see calls for indigenous sovereignty and open borders in the same breath. But also standard leftist demands
for increased economic equality and state interventions into social welfare. This is all very confusing to me. How would open borders advance indigenous sovereignty? How do we advance these massive plans for social equity without the state?
Like, its YES to tribunals governing pronouns but NO to the state having any sovereign authority over its territory? It all seems so disjointed - incoherent outbursts of indignation and petulant demands without any realistic plan for power. Just little cliques of radicals. Sad.
