I’ve gone back and forth about sharing my experience with heartbreak.
I asked this question on Twitter the other day and the response I got was overwhelming.
The vulnerability expressed by everyone really opened my eyes:
I’m no special case. https://twitter.com/dylanjoshwa/status/1305877795638255618">https://twitter.com/dylanjosh...

We all go through something.
But I’ve learned:
It’s not what you go through, it’s how you respond to those circumstances that make you who you are.
Heartbreak isn’t rare.
But I’ve learned:

Most people need a turning point in their life; heartbreak was mine.
Here are the steps I took to come out ahead of it.
Here are the steps I took to come out ahead of it.
1. A FRESH START
Four years prior to getting into my relationship,
I talked my friend out of committing suicide over his ex.
It’s not something I’m proud to talk about, but the lessons I learned in doing so were applicable to my own situation.

It’s not something I’m proud to talk about, but the lessons I learned in doing so were applicable to my own situation.
It took me a total of 5 minutes to delete all evidence we were together.
It’s necessary to create a fresh start.
Why? Wouldn’t you want to remember?
My friend was always looking at old pictures and videos of him and his girl.

My friend was always looking at old pictures and videos of him and his girl.
Doing that would always remind him of the good times and made him forget about all the lies, cheats, and arguments.
He was creating a false sense of reality and ignoring truth.
If someone is constantly at the forefront of your mind, you& #39;ll never get over them.

2. BACK TO THE BASICS
Anyone who’s ever played sports got this drilled into their head:
Practice the fundamentals.
Fundamentals are the most basic form of everything you do.
I’ve credited a lot of my mindset switch over the past 2 years to motivational videos.

It was in watching one by David Goggins that I realized:
I wasn& #39;t happy with who I saw staring back at me in the mirror.
I had a terrible diet and was 40 pounds overweight.
I had boobs bro.

The most common advise you see on Twitter,
Whether you want to be a high value man or have a sense of mental clarity,
Is to hit the gym.
My advise is no different.
However, it wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I realized,
And this is the most important lesson here:

And this is the most important lesson here:
I went back to what I was doing before I got into the relationship.
*I replaced drugs with working out
*I replaced Netflix with reading and writing
*I replaced my terrible diet with a healthy diet
Why did this work?
I started being who I WAS,
Not who everyone WANTED me to be.

3. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
*You didn’t do anything wrong.
*It was all their fault.
*They screwed everything up.
These are the 3 most common phrases you tell yourself.
Are they true?
Maybe to an extent.
I will be the first to tell you, you aren& #39;t perfect.

You can’t go back and change anything that happened,
But you can recognize where you went wrong and change it in the future.
How do you do that?
You first have to forgive; yourself and them.

Forgiveness starts when you take responsibility.
Acceptance starts when you become aware.
Awareness starts when you forgive.
The key here is to look at what happened without judgement.
Figure out what you CAN control and change it.

Here are the 3 steps to overcoming heartbreak:
1. Delete all the evidence
2. Go back to being the person you were before

What you consider the worst moment of your life is often a blessing in disguise.
