The big #Alice question: Does 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi (Park Sun Young) share the same DNA?

Short answer: no

Slightly longer answer: with the revelation of parallel universes, these 2 are unlikely to share the same DNA.

Long answer: read this thread!

Before the drama confirmed that time travelling takes place in parallel universes, we assumed that time travel only takes place in 1 universe, thus, 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi are the same person and shares the same DNA.

How does parallel universes change this fact?
We know that 2020 Tae Yi was born in 1989, and if 2050 Tae Yi is 25 when she travelled to 1992 (as she claims in her ID), then she's born in 2026.

Since they are born in different years and the fertilisation process takes place separately, they likely do not have the same DNA.
It's just like you will not have the same DNA as your siblings, even if both your parents are the same. There are 8 million DNA combinations for you and your siblings. You are never gonna get the same. Even fraternal twins don't have the same DNA. Only identical twins do.
So in terms of DNA relationship, are 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi sisters then?

Unlikely. As they are born 37 years apart, it is likely that they are changes further up the family tree, possibly grandparents and above.
Assuming 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi's family tree used to originate from the same ancestors (assuming grandparents) in the same universe, some Schrodinger's Cat event may have happened, causing a branch into 2 separate parallel universes.
In this case, while 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi have different DNA, so may their parents, if they are born after the split in universes.

And this is likely, since 2050 Tae Yi is born 37 years after 2020 Tae Yi, her parents are also likely born later compared to 2020 counterparts
So if the grandparents are the same, and 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi's parents are all born in different years, then the 2020 parents will likely share a sibling DNA with the 2050 parents, i.e. 50% share of DNA (same for the 2 Tae Yi's mothers).
If that is the case, the DNA relationship between 2020 Tae Yi and 2050 Tae Yi will be that of "1st cousins", and they will share on average, 12.5% DNA.

And this is the answer, they do not have the same DNA.

But what about 2020 Tae Yi and Jin Gyeom?
The DNA relationship between 2020 Tae Yi and Jin Gyeom is likely to be that of "1st cousins once removed", which on average, shares 6.25% in DNA.

This is unlike 2050 Tae Yi and Jin Gyeom, who as parent and child, shares on average, 50% DNA.
Question 2. Why do 2020 and 2050 Tae Yi look the same then??

Answer: Because this is a drama 😂

Anyway, it they were to cast different actresses for the different Tae Yis, it would be confusing as well.
Question 3: Will this different DNA story apply to other dramas with parallel universes as well?

Answer: Don't think so. Alice is the drama where characters are the same but in different years, i.e. the universes are vastly different in timelines as well. This is unlike The King
Question 4: Since they have different DNA, do I suppport the Jin Gyeom and 2020 Tae Yi relationship?

Answer: No. It still seems a bit uncomfortable knowing that Jin Gyeom will see her as a person who has the same face as his mother 😅
