The university “will not necessarily” inform lecturers if a student tests positive in their class. This is because apparently 2 metres over a 3 hour session in classrooms in which students sit a metre apart & don’t have to wear masks isn’t risky ... however (and please read on)
We have reports of desks at 0.6metres apart, too many students to fit in the room, inaccurate registers (making track&trace even less reliable), confusion amongst students as to what to do if they get a positive result, it being impossible to use whiteboards & adhere to 2ms
Members on fixed term contracts describe feeling too vulnerable to express their fears to their line managers, others describe finding face to face incredibly stressful. We have to act now to avoid a major outbreak & the long term damage it will cause.
