Some of you will be driving cars that are literally screaming for help via their warning lights but because you don’t know what they mean, you keep using the car till it stops on third mainland bridge and then blame village people.
so what do these warning lights mean? A thread
This is the check engine symbol. Drivers often confuse it with the Service Required light. It could mean something serious or could be that the gas cap needs tightening (you could do this yourself). Usually requires diagnosis with a professional scan tool.
This is the battery warning light. It is normal for it come on wen you just turn on the car but if it stays on while you are driving, that means a fault as been detected in the charging system and your car will die soon. Find somewhere to park and check your battery.
This light is warning you that the transmission fluid's temperature too high, which can lead to transmission failure; a vehicle owner's worst nightmare, as they are notoriously expensive to repair. In order to avoid GBESE, park the car so it can cool and send it 4 servicing ASAP
The first one is the oil pressure light. it means there’s not enough oil pressure or low oil level. The second one means you need to change the engine oil. Depending on the car you use, both lights could mean the same. The car could simply just need an oil change or servicing.
Its important to pay attention to this cause neglect could lead to engine failure and could even damage it beyond repairs.
This light is telling you, Oga, madam, please service your car. It is called the service vehicle indicator light. In some other vehicles, the indicator light is very clear like the image on the right.
When you see this, its telling you to check your tyres, they could be flat and you would be needing to visit the vulcanizer. It is called the tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) warning light.
These are the brake warning indicators. first one from the left is it can mean to check the brake fluid level, second is a warning that brake pads are getting too worn and should be replaced soon and the last one means an issue with your parking brake, or it is still engaged.
This is a feature on modern cars. It is the antilocking system for the brakes. It prevents the wheels from locking up as you apply the brakes. Its an early warning sign that your brake system needs to be inspected right away.
