Actually really interesting and is making me think about several things.
1. Reading about whether reptiles can develop emotions; the few emotions they have been “proven” to develop are fear, anxiety and excitement (for food lol). But this doesn’t stop people from forming + https://twitter.com/esnika_/status/1307926501434761222">https://twitter.com/esnika_/s...
Emotional bonds with their reptiles (even people who own alligators/crocodiles claim their “pets” have affection towards them). This is so typically human to me. We project feelings and emotions onto animals, at times even other people, who aren’t capable of reciprocating.
2. There’s something called neoteny in domesticated animals which basically means adult animals retain juvenile features. Adult wolves barely bark, but wolf pups bark often. We see domesticated dogs bark a lot and this is a form of neoteny. There are physical manifestations too.
This is making me think about how childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood has changed so much over the years. The “babying” of kids can affect development (although I’m not judging tbh because it’s a scary world).
Also how emotional immaturity resembles young kids not understanding their emotions and blaming other things or people (inanimate objects, siblings etc). “Adults” who are emotionally immature will always blame others, society, etc
I could even go into the theoretical and cultural immaturity of blaming structures (this is not a defence of the capitalist system) and other cultures but I don’t want to offend anyone.
3. There’s a lot of mystery irt earliest domestication of animals. There are a few different dates all in different parts of the world. Whenever I come across such historical mysteries I (like to) assume that a prophet of Allah was the first one to do it with divine guidance.
Me and mum were once discussing olives and who the first person to process them might have been because they are not nice raw lol and kind of agreed that although trial &error is a possibility divine guidance made more sense
(This is an uninformed guess btw may be totally wrong)
