It should be concerning that hardly any media has focused on BTS& #39;s statements about racism in the US. It& #39;s not that media doesn& #39;t know -- a new collaboration rumor makes it to mainstream music news in a second. So why not BB or Grammy articles about this? +
On the flip side, had BTS said anything about racism before the #1, "critics" would have accused them of complaining & making excuses. That& #39;s what feels personal about this. It& #39;s what all minorities are told when calling out systemic racism: "stop complaining, just try harder." +
BTS played the game with Dynamite, and they& #39;re very open about it -- the analysis on why it worked in the US, what impact language has, what appeal the genre has... they know. Now, they& #39;re using that experience to inform the world about the double standards in the system. +
No artist should need a #1 as "permission" to speak out against these issues. That& #39;s the ultimate goal, an industry that& #39;s inclusive and unbiased to all. But Dynamite is a massive step towards that goal... it was BTS& #39;s social "experiment" of sorts, and wow did it work.
