Watch 71. Because his hips are too low, he has to raise them before he can recruit the proper muscles to drive forward. So when he drives off the left leg, he can’t go anywhere but up. That in turn causes the “false” step. 2/
Because only his forefoot is in the ground, he can only move on one angle, forward. But by that time the DL has already slanted. When contact happens, he’s in a poor position to accept pressure, and he gets turned/dropped to a knee. 3/
This is a case where your stance dictates your success. If his hips are set at the proper height, recruiting proper muscles, wasted motion/“false” step doesnt occur, and he can fight pressure better.
Not saying he wins the block, but it definitely puts him in a better position.
