NZTA are working on how to fix the bridge, both temporary fixes and the long term solution.

The temporary fix will start overnight on Tuesday the 22nd of September, & will enable 2 additional lanes to be opened on the bridge.
There is going to be lots of testing before opening
All southbound lanes are going to be closed overnight on the 22nd for these repairs to take place.

A longer term fix is being worked on, but there's questions about materials, testing, and the engineering requirements for this.
The investigation on this thus far has shown that there was a wind-gust of 120k/h, a little over double the windspeed that had been going on.

Which caught the truck, carrying a container, in an unexpected way.

This is a 1 in 50 year event.
No timeline given for when the final repairs will be in place, I'll add that info to this thread when it's announced/if I remember.
