Daily #Taemin rant:

Do you ever just think about how Taemin is such a genius when it comes to his arts?
The way critics, professional musicians & even perfectionist praise him is extremely thrilling and satisfying to hear. Like he's not just making music, he's making art museums
Also I need to point out one thing: whenever Taemin said he will do something the Kpop industry has never done before, he's not joking. Before Move, have you ever seen such dance? Before Want, have you ever seen such fashion? Before Criminal, have you ever heard songs like that?
His interest in the indie music or independent film industry helps him a lot. He's able to grasp the basis of how he wants his songs to be heard and his performance to be seen. Also, I think he studies the Kpop industry as a whole. He may not know this specific dance or song, but
he surely knows the overall vibe/style of Kpop. It doesn't mean that each acts not having their own style but you must admit there is this distinct flavor in Kpop that even when you hear the instrumentals, you know it's Kpop. Like even though there're lots of western producers in
Kpop, their songs, to fit with the GP, still have that distinct flavor. But specifically Act 1, Taemin's songs, if you take out the lyrics, most will interpret them as western songs, the kind of old-school 80s-90s western melodies everyone and their grandmas love. That's why his
album has both the nostalgic and innovative feeling.
Also, he's not one to go mainstream or excessive. I believe since Want, Taemin already has his input in the production of his albums. One trait i notice in his songs since Want era is, in the last chorus, he adds lots of adlibs
or change a little in instrumental to make it fresh surprisingly pleasant to listen to, but he doesn't go overboard with it. Subtle changes are more intriguing than a complete change that doesn't fit the overall song and he does really well with it. One example is Black Rose.
Also the way he plays with language. I don't know if anyone has said this but lately, although he wants Korean songs to stay Korean and Japanese songs to stay Japanese, Famous Kor ver is really pleasant to listen to. He changed the arrangement and mix to fit how Korean language
flows. Like if you hear old songs like Danger Jp ver or Door Kor ver, there will be some beat where the words are either lacked or more than needed but the arrangement stay the same (the same as most Kr↔️Jp songs go) so some beats will be off and make it unpleasant. But with the
decision to change the arrangement (listen to both ver of Famous side by side you'll see it), the words flow really well. He takes note from his previous works & improve them.

Also he really knows what are his strengths & what not. He takes the best elements from previous works
and improve/change them, or mix match them. That's why you can see traits of either Danger, Drip Drop, PYN, Move and Want in Criminal. But Criminal is still different from all of them. It's more liberal and distinct, and that distinction is what grasps people's attention.
Also like I said above, he seems to study Kpop industry in a big picture but still in details. He's an observer. It represents clearest in how he learns a dance. He can't copy it right away, you can usually see him standing still for a while and look at the instructions. He's not
just study a move, he studies the mood it represents, the meaning of the steps and how it can be executed in his way. 2 performance I really recommend to check out ar Why Not The Dancer crew "Everybody Mad" & Taemin "Famous" dance practice. He's doing the exact same steps as them
but you can see in the way he executes his movements, it's really "Taemin". That's how he learns a dance and makes it his own. That's why till now, NO ONE can dance Move like him.
The observer persona also can be seen in how he behaves in variety shows. If he's not asked, he will
just stand back, look at everyone around and smile. But he's observing everyone and unconsciously taking in the most prominent traits. Compare 3 times he appeared in Knowing Bros you can see his change. He used to be awkward & shy => smiling everywhere => cracking joke himself
Also I hardly see him making his "monitoring" face when he watches others, he mostly just smiles and enjoys the performance but he still watches very attentively. It's not that he looks down on others but actually he respects them and their hard work, you can see it in how
he gives his opinions to the cast of 1N2D who can't even dance, The Unit competitors, or GFriend Yerin whose dance was compared to bg. He can be harsh but he never disrespects anyone. He can see the good in people and their effort that's why he gives everyone so much respect.
Also, the last factor is his daring personality. He's willingly to take a risk if he deems it's worth it. Like how he argues with SM to not change the title song from Move to Love and as we know it's blown up. It's visible since the day he crossed the line at SM Saturday audition
This reflects in his taste for horror movies or the interest in dangerous sports. His original dream was a pilot. He's determined, tough & sometimes stubborn. He used to be VERY perfectionist to the point he filmed his MV for 17h straight & cried when he made mistake at rehearsal
Lastly, his talent in pictorial intelligence and his choice in major: theater and film directing. It first shows in Problematic Men when he solves the turtle question and if you look at his drawing diary to Sirius, you can see his emphasis in drawing. Or just look at Criminal MV.
In Conclusion: Taemin literally using everything, from his hobby/interests to his personality, his respect for the arts and art creators and his own ideals, his major, and his strengths to create his own music and performances that only him can do.
Anyone who made it at the end of this rant, thank you very much and please keep voting for Taemin on MWave and stream his MV thank you 🙌
