Pretty sure I can make bussup shut in my sleep. I’ve made it about 6-7 times in the last week. Buttttt - my recipe is now done, and I finally can replicate the flavors of my childhood. Passing these recipes on to Nori is so important to me.
I grew up with two very CULTURAL parents, a father from Trinidad & a mother from Puerto Rico. The way they cooked with LOVE - literally, and the second nature they’ve had, is what makes them my favorite cooks - ever. They made food for me as a kid, that I can’t forget.
And I hope society doesn’t forget them either - the original ways, never losing who we are as a people, EVEN OUR FOOD. So I plan to teach my daughter what I was shown, so it stays alive - her roots.
This thread shows the way food makes me feel. It’s real connection. Everything I make connects a memory that’s is VITAL. Start at the table with our babies. Hold space for them & raise them up supported and IN THE KNOW.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk - 😁
