Regarding #SCOTUS nominee, it occurred to me that a Justice will serve through roughly 6 Presidential election cycles, SO what is so special about this one? Why would consideration be given to whomever will be sworn in Jan. 2021, but not to whomever will be sworn in Jan. 2029?...
(2)... Isn't that exactly why the Constitution determines the choice of a Justice as it does?
In a way, it's like roulette. Into whichever President's slot an open Justice position falls, that is the President who puts forth the nominee. NO future President is consulted...

(3)… The nominee is put forward by the current President with only “the Advice and Consent of the Senate.” Period. It matters not who might be President in 4 months, 4 years, or 24 years. And that is the only way that makes sense. ...
(4)... It’s the only way that is fair and consistent for EVERY subsequent President who takes office, with whatever set of Justices are there when he/she is sworn in.
So, there, I’ve settled the discussion for everyone.
You’re welcome.
