What is Amendment 76? (A thread)

76 is an amendment to the Colorado constitution proposing to change the language from “EVERY citizen” of the US who has attained the age of 18 can vote, to “ONLY a citizen” of the US who has attained the age of 18 can vote.
Facts:

1) Colorado already has a citizenship requirement for voting.
2) 76 is run & funded by an out-of-state organization called Citizen Voters, Inc. of Florida.
3) The constitution in 48 out of 50 states say “every” vs “only.”
If passed, 76 will:

1) Take away the right for 17y.o.’s to vote in primaries.
2) Confuse citizen-immigrant voters, resulting in lower voter turnout.
3. Turn out anti-immigrant voters.
4. Put a permanent restriction on who can vote in Colorado.
What you should know:

1)The main goal of 76=voter suppression, especially among citizen-immigrant & youth voters.
2) Colorado has one of the most secure & accessible election systems in the COUNTRY. 76 would take us backwards.
The anti-immigrant, anti-voter agenda of 76 has NO place in our state! Don’t allow Florida to limit who can vote in Colorado.
