The selective outrage/sympathy/etc on stan twt only when it pertains to what you personally know needs to be addressed. It becomes performative. sad and horrible things go on around the world every single day, do you know every single thing?
You cannot police what ppl do on here (often for their own selfcare/coping) ESP when they may not even be in a country or situation where they would even know of what occurred at all. Claiming that is "ignorance" is extremely unfair
For example, I didn't see anyone saying to "stop twting abt kpop" when RBG passed away, even tho she was an extremely important figure in our society and many ppl were distressed over her death
why? Simply bcus ppl didn't know her in comparison to well-known celebs or idols. Can you tell me one important person who passed away in a country that's not your own today? Shouldn't we respect them too then?
This is the problem. A lot of it is performative bcus ppl don't want to look disrespectful. But in reality, the notion that you must stop the world for every unfortunate event that YOU know of, is disrespectful & dismissive to everything and everyone else you DONT know of
