I don't agree with #AnuragKashyap being hailed as the ultimate feminist icon because of his progressive politics. But there is a BIG issue with the woman's testimony who has alleged sexual assault by him. (1/6)
She says in her testimony that AK tried to make unsolicited sexual advances by telling her that it was okay and that #RichaChadha, #HumaQureshi and #MahieGill were "just a call away" when he needed sexual favours. (2/6)
Why did this woman need to drag the names of three other women and character assassinate them to prove that she was sexually assaulted? Even by keeping their names out, AK's alleged harassment would have been as clear. (3/6)
In fact, if AK did name them as available for him while making advances at her, should she not as a woman, in a supposedly vulnerable position, have thought that these women may too have been subjected to the same assault, & made more of an attempt to conceal their names? (4/6)
Even more than the timing of her statement, it is THIS which raises serious questions for me. You do not bring down other women, who have no role to play in your alleged assault, just to prove you are being harassed. (5/6).
Of course nobody should be given a clean chit without probe, and especially not because they espouse progressive values. But using our critical faculties is also desirable and necessary. (6/6)
