Values thread: I like to do a values clarification exercise (ala Russ Harris) every 6 months-ish or so (when I remember or have time...notice the irony 😳). Not because my values necessarily change, but because how in line with them I am certainly can and often does. (1/4)
Different things can pull us away from being more in line with our values. Time, anxiety, depression, OCD, strained relationships, avoidance, etc. When we are distant from our values, it creates internal conflict. That's some uncomfy stuff. 🥴 (2/4)
It's like "dang it, I'm not living as the person I know myself to be or want to be." 1) Offer yourself compassion. 💗 None of us are 100% in line with our values 100% of the time. 2) Take a non-judgmental look at what is getting in the way of you being more in line. 🤔 (3/4)
3) Insert more self-compassion. 💞 4) Determine problem-solving solutions and action steps you can begin taking, even teeny tiny ones (they count!), toward your values. (4/4)

*Note: The path toward your values is often a bumpy one. Acceptance helps smooth out the ride.
