Let's talk about the harmful consequences of antipsychiatry bullshit, shall we? I think we should. There are a plethora of TikToks and Instagram videos and even Twitter posters encouraging people to quit their psych meds.
SSRIs and other psychotropic drugs are life saving medications. This is like someone encouraging you to not take insulin if you are diabetic.
A key aspect of depression is minimization of consequences and the illness itself. To encourage people on meds for depression to quit them, as a person hoping to go viral, is to encourage self harm and suicide. Call it out when you see it, please, and shut it down.
This is exhausting. I'm exhausted.
To ward off the BS I receive every time I thank God for antidepressants: I do not prescribe medication. I do not formally diagnose. I am not in the pocket of Big Pharma or Big Sad. I make less than a cashier at Target, at the end of the day. Depression is bad and meds are good.
