here’s a short thread with some of the cleverest and wittiest things taylor swift has done music-wise!
sampling her own song ‘innocent’ which was formally written about someone who ruined a huge accomplishment in her career into the lead single ‘look what you made me do’ from her 7th album ‘reputation’ after the same person tried to destroy her career.
“i’m only seventeen, i don’t know anything” is the 17th line from her new song ‘betty’.
taylor saying the number 16 at the exact 16th second in her song ‘miss americana and the heartbreak prince’.
the songs mirrorball and seven from the album ‘folklore’ are the exact same length (3:28/3+2+8 = 13) and they show an opposite, almost /mirrored/, narrative perspective.
reflecting her lucky number (13) in her music:

the lucky one: word lucky sang 13 times
clean: word clean sang 13 times
this is why we can’t have nice things: word nice sang 13 times
call it what you want: 13 beat-stamps/seconds before singing

and the list goes on!
the 7th track from her album ‘folklore’ being called seven. this track focus on childhood memories and it’s been said that the most crucial milestones in a kid’s life occur by the age of 7.
the eighth track from her album ‘folklore’ being named as the eighth month of the year: august.
not saying the word kiss at the end of the song ‘last kiss’ from the speak now album as you never really know when the last kiss is going to be.
the high-pitched ‘stay’ in the song ‘all you had to do was stay’ as a representation of the suffocating feeling of having a lot to say yet you can only seem to let out one single word in a high squeaky tone to hope it shows the desperation and fear in an attempt to make them stay
the song ‘my tears ricochet’ (which is inspired by the big machine records/scott borchetta fallout) contains the line “stolen lullabies”. however, she doesn’t get to finish it as a way to represent the way her masters were taking away from her before she could finish.
"she said “james, /GET IN, LET'S DRIVE/”" (betty, 2:47)
"remember when i pulled up and said “/GET IN THE CAR/”" (august, 2:47)

same moment is mentioned from two different perspectives at the exact same time in both songs.

and, of course, 2+4+7=13. (creds to @swifttcreature)
taylor’s heartbeat was sampled for the beat lines of her hit ‘wildest dreams’ from the most awarded pop album in history, ‘1989’.

*she also starts singing at the 13th second.
the intro of the song ‘last kiss’ is 27 seconds long to symbolize the exact same length the phone call she received from her ex-boyfriend to break up with her lasted.
