Ok, here are the 2 most basic but possibly most helpful sfx diys!! These are truly so easy, so cheap, and work like magic, especially if youâre just starting out with sfx, or just wanna try it for Halloween!

Youâre gonna need-
Light corn syrup
Cocoa powder
Red food coloring
A container
A stirrer
Then just mix the cocoa powder and food coloring with the corn syrup, until you get the color and consistency you want! You can add a tiny amount of water too if needed!
Also fair warning- remember youâre literally just putting dyed sugar on your face- so 1. Itâs very sticky, and 2. Itâs very likely itâll dye your skin- so donât come at me
I make mine very thick and dark, but as you see it leaves a red trail as it drips and dries

Scar wax is a major part of sfx, but itâs also the worst thing ever to use, I absolutely despise it- so this recipe really did save me!! All it is- equal parts flour and Vaseline- and just make a dough really- whatever consistency makes you happy

Hereâs what it should look like! Itâs basically soft play dough! You use it to mold things on your face, hold things, for cuts, itâs really a staple! You can also add cocoa powder or other pigments to better match your skin tone! I always goes over mine in foundation though!
Another tip for this stuff- I like to make mine with just a little more flour than Vaseline, because I donât like when itâs too sticky, but a little tack does help in the long run! I like it so I can roll it in my fingers without it crumbling or just melting!
Last thing about it, make sure to keep it in a closed container or else it will dry out probably, and the longer it sits, the less sticky it becomes!
