1) With RBG gone, many are worried about the future of Roe v Wade. But I’m not convinced that the GOP actually cares about “saving babies” as much as they say they do. For several reasons:

2) For starters, the GOP will be hard-pressed to find a more emotionally charged rallying cry to sway voters than “Save the babies!” They may chip away at Roe, but if they couldn’t overturn it under two terms of Bush and one under Trump, how much does it matter to them?

3) We also have plenty of evidence that Christians get abortions at almost the same rate as everyone else (look it up). Plenty of conservatives count on it to dispose of evidence for their affairs (though where there is $$, abortion will always be an option even if it’s illegal).

4) More damning than anything is the blatant hypocrisy of their activism: they hate abortion because it kills babies, but they aren’t campaigning to shut down fertility clinics, which destroys more embryos in a day than any Planned Parenthood.

5) Not to mention, the GOP isn’t interested in supporting the policies that actually work to decrease unplanned pregnancies: affordable healthcare, sex ed, etc.

Abortion may become harder to access, but so long as gullible voters exist, they need it legal to keep their support.

6) I wouldn’t call Democrats the real “pro life” party, but at least they’re *attempting* to make raising a child more affordable for the average American via raising the minimum wage, supporting paid maternity leave, etc.

7) A pro choice candidate may scare off Christian voters, but there’s nothing they can do to compel pregnant women to choose abortion. That’s where the “choice” element comes in.

8) & remember: the “pro life” party is the one turning a blind eye to forced hysterectomies in ICE custody.

I hate abortion. As much as I cringe at the pro-life movement’s tactics, I also cringe at liberal slogans that call it a “human right.” Gotta make sure I’m disliked for the right reasons
