Bakugou and his choice to atone

A thread
One of my favourite things about this is the fact that this choice, is very in character for Bakugou. We’ve known from the start that he is a man of action, yes he voices his ambitions alot but even then he's always set on proving himself right.
Just a reminder that an apology regretful acknowledgement for your actions, whereas atonement is the act of making amends for your actions.

In other words an apology is “sorry I broke your glass” and atonement is the act to help fix the broken glass.
Bakugou learned the value of this from being in the Endeavor agency arc. He was able to observe Endeavor up close and the reaction his family has had to him. And that probably confirmed what the right path for him to take was.
Now I'm not saying a verbal apology is useless here but in Bakugou’s case, atonement is the first best step he can make.

But a verbal apology is needed at some point, Deku deserves to hear Bakugou’s feelings and know that he cares now more than ever.
What makes it even better though is that no one told him to do this, he wasn’t “called out” on anything and deku didn’t show any signs of wanting an apology or showing resentment.
Obviously some people didn’t like the fact that none of these things happened. But the reason why this is so much better is because Bakugou came to his own conclusion that he has to atone, no one in universe expected him to do so
That just means that Bakugou did some self reflection, looked back at his past actions and acknowledged that what he did was wrong. He was honest with himself.

He took a good look at himself and said “I have to make it up to Deku”
And personally I think that's much more powerful than anyone “calling him out” or Deku having any resentment.
Another reason why atonement is needed in Bakugou and Deku’s story is because Bakugou knows more than anyone and that Deku doesn't take himself into account.

And that means that Deku is not only prone to putting himself in danger.

But it also makes him a very forgiving person.
Bakugou knows Deku would forgive him for that very reason but the way I see it, Bakugou wants to earn that forgiveness not just given it, because he knows its important to make it up to him.
So if Bakugou did in fact start off with an apology, the way I see it, and this is just my opinion, is that Deku would urge Bakugou not do it for his sake. Deku is selfless and so he doesn't want people worrying about or going out of their way for him. And Bakugou knows this.
Not to mention, having the apology happen later helps with Deku viewing this as just a rivalry thing rather than atonement, Deku thinks Bakugou is there to help himself get stronger and in turn it pushes Deku to want to surpass him.
It also keeps Deku’s mind clear and focused on what he needs to do rn and thus Bakugou will keep lighting that fire under him.

It's not like Bakugou is doing this all for Deku tho, he wants to get stronger too, but there's a reason why he reminds deku that he's not backing down
And one final note is that this isn't just going to help Bakugou grow but Deku as well, Bakugou was one of the factors that put down Deku’s worth and tried to put down his dreams of becoming a hero.
But now that the very same person is making it up to him , maybe just MAYBE it'll show Deku that he does infact have self worth from just beyond having OFA.

That his life doesn't have to revolve around his OFA.
That he should take himself into account, shouldn’t define himself as just a holder of OFA, shouldn't follow the path the past OFA users took with leaving behind their lives, but be the kid who wanted to become the best hero someday.
Bakugou choosing to atone and help Deku become a great hero is going to be the best thing to happen for both of them and I'm so excited to see what happens next.

To be continued.
