Here& #39;s the complete thread from my Ron Gardenhire tweets after the game last night....with a promise to use this format for all future "multiple tweet" threads....
And now....a few words about one of my favorite people I& #39;ve ever met in my 21 years in this job. I first met Ron Gardenhire when I was just a couple of years into this job, and he& #39;d just taken over as Mgr of the Twins. It didn& #39;t take long to realize this was a special person...1/
.....it was that unique blend of superb baseball smarts and insight - along with a quick wit and an incredible sense of humor, a gift for storytelling (nobody& #39;s better), and his ability to find the lighter side in almost any situation.....2/
There was nothing better than sitting in Gardy& #39;s office, listening to him tell stories. And he always had a story. You knew you would leave any encounter with him feeling better about your day, and with a smile on your face.....3/
.....to be able to do the manager& #39;s show with Ron Gardenhire 81 times a year was one of the best parts of my job. Even in a season like 2019, if you had questions, he had answers. And I learned something every single day....the insight really was incredible.....4/
Gardy loved trying to understand what made people tick - he wanted to be able to reach every player, and get the most out of each one (& #39;I took a lot of psychology classes in college& #39;). He really had a gift for connecting, and it was a big reason he was such a good manager...5/
I just hope Gardy gets healthy, de-stresses, and gets to spend all the time he wants with his family, and his beloved "grandbabies". To say he& #39;ll be missed is a massive understatement. I hope we see him back in baseball in some way, some day, because that& #39;s where he belongs....f/
