I will KRONCH the tiny ice every time, but real quick:

Pagophagia (eating ice) can be a sign of iron deficiency with or without anemia, so if this is you, a woman about to eat a gallon of frozen water, please have your hemoglobin checked at some point. https://twitter.com/soulphoodie/status/1307683037770117120
This is important for me to talk about, because I had some of the weirder symptoms of anemia:
•Heart palpitations, like a moth behind my ribs
•Repetitive, intrusive thoughts
•Sleep disruption
•An overall sense of dread and fearful anxiety.

Is it anemia, or is it 2020?
Turns out, for me, it was an undiagnosed bleeding ulcer that was draining my blood like a slow leak, until it ruptured.

The ruptured ulcer poured hydrochloric a into my abdominal cavity, compromising my diaphragm (by partially digesting it) and collapsing my lung.

3 surgeries.
Anyway! Iron deficiency disproportionately affects Black and Latinx folks, and the physical characteristics, like pallor, can be missed on people with non-white skin.

Go get that good QT ice, but check your blood, too. https://www.healthgrades.com/right-care/blood-conditions/iron-deficiency-anemia-in-women-of-color
